At the outset I thank you for having reposed faith in me and elevating me to this office. On behalf of the journal, it is my privilege to once again welcome the periodontal and allied scientific community.
It requires knowledge and a team effort for publication of a journal. The various disciplines and specialties that are imbibed in dentistry make the journal appealing. The emphasis of the journal is to conduct and report high level research that has clinical relevance and educates one and all. It updates us on the latest trends in patient management and the newer advances as well as provides a sound basis for choosing treatment options.
Authors, Editor, reviewers and readers are the backbone of the journal and I am sure, if every one of them contributes the journal can reach the next level in publication. It is very challenging, to run a journal of repute which showcases innovations and at the same times is of useful help to clinicians as well as academicians engendering the desire to improve their professional skills.
Periodontics as of now, is faced with a brand new force of revolutionary proportions. Innovation and research are the basis for countering any clinical problem. They not only offer new techniques of treatment but also pave the way for providing patient comfort.
Advances in periodontal research is taking dentistry farther from the traditional practice. Consistent with these advancement, there is also a change in spectrum of periodontal diseases. Changing lifestyles give rise to newer diseases, and treating them in the absence of clinical research trials which help enhance the skills of clinician is not possible. It would not be an exaggeration to say that, our understanding of periodontics has undergone a sea change and entirely new ways of managing these problems are being looked at. This poses a greater challenge to the ingenuity of a periodontist and thus forces him/her to unravel the mysteries through clinical research. Our intention is not far from it.
JISP is a platform for exchange of such experiences and knowledge, which will help in updating our skills in the field of periodontics and bring out newer approach in patient management in terms of diagnosis, treatment and ultimate patient care.
In the years gone by, we were able to publish significant number of enlightening articles from different parts of the world and are earnestly trying to update the journal to ensure that it keeps pace with constant advancement in periodontal and allied dental practice.
