My term as President is more than half way through and I feel 8 months have passed successfully with all your support and co-operation.

It has been a pleasure to address you all through our official publication-JISP. The journal is an academic back bone of any professional organization, and it reflects the scientific work done by our colleagues. Also this year, we have included a news/events section, in which all the activities of our society are highlighted with a brief report and photographs. I congratulate our editor, Dr. Ashish Nichani for bringing out regular issues of our journal in time.

The various programs we have done at different parts of our country, have helped the growth of ISP and made it more popular and meaningful. Let me express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the office bearers, executive committee members, and all the program co-ordinators with a special mention to our secretary - Dr. Balaji Manohar for the concerted efforts in achieving well balanced activities.

The programs in the months of May and June were organized in an outstanding manner.

For the first time ever, ISP in association with IDA-Gujarat State branch organized professional enrichment program at Baroda to educate the Dental practitioners about the recent developments in the diagnosis and management of periodontal disease. I would like to congratulate Dr. Neeraj Deshpande for taking initiative to conduct this program.

As a part of Periodontal health care activities, we have organized lectures, a road show, press conference, and other awareness and education programs on anti-tobacco day at Ahmedabad. My sincere compliments to program coordinator Dr. Mihir Shah for organizing the program in an excellent manner.

The second TOT held at Kottayam also was very effective. Let me acknowledge the dedication and commitment of all the faculty of Manipal center for professional and personal development for joining hands with ISP and conducting this highly informative and educative training program. Let me thank the program coordinator Dr. Baiju R. M for organizing this 3 day event meticulously well.

Another important program which I would like to remind you of is the formation of new ISP study groups. Since the number of qualified periodontists and post-graduate students in all cities are increasing, I request all the members in each region/city to form new ISP study groups. Each study group can hold scientific meetings and educational activities to promote the objectives of ISP. I strongly feel that by forming more and more study groups, we can take ISP to conquer greater heights of achievements.

Before I pen down, let me extend my warm invitation to all my beloved members to Kochi, one of the most sought after tourist destinations in our ''Gods own country'' for the 38th ISP National conference from 24th to 27th October 2013.
