“Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Till your good is better and your better is best.”
-St. Jerome
The year kick started with one of the most awaited event by the exam going post graduates – Sameeksha. ISP Study group – Udaipur organised the event for the third time in a row at Pacific Dental College and Hospital from the 23rd – 25th January 2016. The highlight of the event is to see the students sitting in the scientific hall till the end of the scientific sessions on all the days of the event which is very enthusiastic to note when we see the very poor attendance in the scientific halls at other events. I must here compliment the mentors who take lots of pain and make efforts to simplify and present the matter to the students. As compared to previous year I personally also made note of the fact that the junior postgraduate students also have started taking a liking to the program and have started attending. It is something that mean that the students are wanting to learn the science and imbibe as much as available.
The next program – Integrate on Laser is being conducted at M A Rangoonwala Dental College, Pune on 28th and 29th February 2016. The best part of the event being it organised along with the Society of Oral Laser Applications. The faculty for the program includes the names from the Medical University of Vienna, Prof (Dr) Andreas Moritz to name a few. I must congratulate Dr Varsha Shourie and the entire team for taking the initiative for conducting this program at Pune. We have seen a good response not only from the members but from the private practitioners as well for the program.
Another milestone event is the 15th PG Convention which is to be held for the first time ever in the eastern part of our vast country – Bhubaneshwar from 11th – 13th March 2016. The initiative by Dr Subhaschandra Raj and the organising team is well appreciated for the herculean task undertaken in the region. As decided by the executive committee in the meeting only the best 400 abstracts will be selected for paper presentation and the rest will be converted to posters. The decision to select abstracts of completed studies was also well received by the organising committee. I sincerely request the associate members not to have any grievances regarding the same and understand the fact that it is only a step towards improving the standard of presentation and realising that study should be conducted well in advance by them to be able to present them as paper. I am sure the associate members would have registered for the event and will attend in large numbers.
The Nepalese Society of Periodontology and Oral Implantology is conducting its 2nd Annual Conference on 18th – 19th March 2016 at Pokhara in Nepal. The President, Dr Shaili Pradhan and the Secretaty Dr Manoj Humagain have extended an invitation to the members of ISP to participate in the event. A few of our life members and associate members have already registered for the conference and will be attending the conference. The society also has extended invitation to present papers/posers at the event. Those interested can get in touch with head office and the details can be shared.
All the programs of our society are possible only because of the efforts of our members and our members are our strength. I request each and every member to take part in these programs and enrich their knowledge.
