Under the aegis of Indian Society of Periodontology , a training of teachers program was organized by the Department of Periodontics, Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences, (SPPGIDMS) Lucknow, on the 15 th and 16 th September 2014 at the college auditorium. The resource group were eminent faculty members from Manipal University(MU), Karnataka and included Prof Ramnarayan Vice Chancellor (MU) Professor of Pathology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Dr Sudhakar Nayak, Director Manipal Centre for Profesional and Personal Development (MCPD), Professor of Biochemistry and Dr Ciraj Ali Mohammad Deputy Director (MCPD) Professor of Microbiology.
The two day program was coordinated by DR Krishna Kumar Gupta, Head of Department, Department of Periodontics, SPPGIDMS.
The program was attended by delegates from all over U.P and the neighboring states like Haryana, Delhi (NCR), Rajasthan, Bihar and Gujarat. 50 delegates from various colleges participated in the workshop in which different aspects of teaching with facilitative active learning, student assessment and dissertation writing were discussed. The various inter-active sessions included problem based learning and small group teaching methodologies.
The enthusiasm of the teaching fraternity unanimously concluded that the training of teachers program was very helpful for each and every one to hone their teaching as well as personal skills.
The workshop was financed by Indian Society of Periodontology and sponsored by Hu-Friedy, Colgate, Listerine and Oral B.
