A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.

-Nelson Mandela

The society is progressing ahead. The programs for the year have been charted out and I am sure that we will be able to conduct these programs on the decided time. To kick start the scientific activities of the society we have "Sameeksha," which is being held in Udaipur on the February 28, March 1 and 2, 2014 especially for the exam going postgraduate (PG) students. The PG convention is around the corner in Mangalore from the March 7 to 9, 2014 and I am sure Dr. Biju Thomas and his team would be striving hard to make the event a very memorable scientific event.

The other scientific programs planned out for the year include the orientation program for the newly joined PG students, colloquium series in different parts of the country, training of Teachers program for the life members, undergraduate workshop to encourage the students towards periodontics, professional enrichment programs for the private practitioners and many programs like celebrating Oral Health Day, No Tobacco Day and Oral Hygiene Day aimed at educating the general public about the benefits of good oral hygiene/health and the ill effects of tobacco on general health and periodontal health in particular. The details of the programs will be given from time to time to all the members to enable them to participate in them.

I am sure that the members will participate in these programs and reap benefits which will help them in their academics as well as their practice.

Looking forward to your participation at Sameeksha and the 13 th Indian Society of Periodontology PG convention.

Aim for success not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism.
