The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.

-H. Jackson Brown, Jr

The most awaited event of the year – 40th National Conference of the society has just concluded, and we all had the opportunity to listen to the stalwarts in the field of Periodontology including Kenneth Kornman, Jorgen Slots, and Georgios Romanos. The enthusiasm shown by the members to listen to these luminaries was phenomenal.

The life members as well as the associate members were seen engrossed in all the scientific presentations and make a beeline to meet the faculties to clear their doubts. The Scientific Committee of the Conference needs a special mention to have selected such good faculties as the resource persons for the conference.

I need to specially mention and thank the President of the Nepalese Society of Periodontology and Implantology, Dr. Shaili Pradhan who attended our conference with a delegation from her country and the President and Secretary of Malaysian Society of Periodontology, Dr. Rathna Devi Vaithilingam and Dr. Noorlin I who also graced the event. We are looking forward to having future associations with both the societies and conduct some joint programs in this coming year. Both the societies have invited the Indian Society of Periodontology members to attend their National Conferences in March and May 2016, respectively. The details for the same can be gathered from our head office.

As we enter into the next year with Dr. Praveen Kudva as our leader, I am sure that we will once again re-establish and re-assert ourselves as the most active and scientifically driven specialty in the country. Of course, the newly elected office bearers and the executive committee members are very enthusiastic and are geared up to conduct the various scientific as well as the public awareness programs across the country. The activities of our society are being planned with the support of our members and guidance of our senior members. There is also plan to introduce a few new programs this year which will be communicated to you all in due course of time.

The first major scientific activity – Sameeksha, the revision program begins from 23rd to 25th January 2016 at Udaipur for the examination going postgraduates. I request the associate members and life members to take this opportunity to brush up their knowledge of Periodontics and also visit the picturesque city of Udaipur.

I once again take this opportunity to thank all the members who have supported the head office in conducting the programs throughout the year and look forward to the continued support.

Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.

-Vince Lombardi
