The manuscript titled "Prevalence of gingival enlargement secondary to calcium channel blockers in patients with cardiovascular diseases." J Indian Soc Periodontol. 2012 Jul; 16(3):430-5 has been found to be plagiarised from a dissertation. The lead author of this paper has failed to give an adequate explanation and the Editorial Board and Executive Committee of the Indian Society of Periodontology therefore recommend that this paper not be cited as an original piece of work.

Similarly the article titled "Buccinator muscle repositioning." J Indian Soc Periodontol. 2012 Jul; 16(3):456-60 has also been published as "Buccinator Muscle Repositioning: A Case Report." Compend Contin Educ Dent. 2012 Sep;33(8):e98-e10.The author of this paper has failed to adequately explain this duplication and the Editorial Board and Executive Committee of the Indian Society of Periodontology therefore again recommend that this paper not be cited as an original piece of work.

All papers published in the Journal of Indian Society of Periodontology are peer reviewed by independent referees. All refereeing systems are occasionally fallible and the Editor would like to affirm that these papers were published in good faith.

The authors of the offending papers have communicated their full, frank and contrite apology.

Plagiarism can never be accepted or defended but the matter is now closed.

Editor, JISP
