"Never let it rest until better turns to best!"

Season's Greetings.

A year has gone by since the Journal of Indian Society of Periodontology (JISP) has tried to evolve, become better and create a niche for itself. One would think a year is plenty to stop and ponder but now we are consumed by a force that gets us from the 1 st of January to the 31 st of December in one crazy, supersonic rush!

In the past year we have tried to regularize the publication of JISP, increase the number of articles in every issue and at the same time give it a better look and feel. We have also added all the members of ISP to the database, corrected mailing addresses and nearly doubled the number of copies we print. I am sure many of you would have appreciated the changes and I thank you all for your encouragement and constructive criticism. I am also happy to inform you that the Indian MEDLARS Center [a collaborative effort of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)] have indexed JISP in their database. The purpose of the National Database of Indian Medical Journals (IndMED) is to index selected peer-reviewed medical/dental journals published from India. It supplements international indexing services like PubMed and aims to supplement the literature surveys with Indian references. Full text of JISP is available from 2011 on their website and can be accessed at www.medind.nic.in

We at the editorial office, filter the manuscripts not only for accuracy but also for balance. This takes patience and time, to give true dimension and meaning to the content. Hence, I request you to bear with us; we are trying to bring out two supplementary issues in 2012 to give a wider platform to all our members and try to accommodate more of your manuscripts after they have gone through the mandatory peer review process.

There is a measure for everything in the world, but for perfection. But the scale of our vision, the length of our efforts and the degree of our achievements can go to some extent in measuring it through the level of contentment it brings to you. We at the journal office are committed to excellence and we hope JISP along with Wolters Kluwer Health (which recently acquired Medknow Publications) will go a long way in fulfilling your needs and charting the journey of success with perfection all the way in the year ahead!
